When
Does The 2008 NBN SPRING Season Begin And End?
The
SPRING 2008 league will be kicking off on Saturday,
March 29th and will conclude the regular
season on Saturday,
May 24th. Our post season tournament
will begin on Saturday,
May 31st, continue throughout
the week of June 2nd and
all Championship games will be played on Saturday,
June 7th.

Where Will The Practices And Games Be Held?
Each team will have one practice per
week which will typically be held on a weeknight and
will play one game per week which is typically on
Saturday’s. For the SPRING league we will be utilizing
most or all of the following gyms – Bradley Middle
School, Hopewell High School, Huntersville Elementary
School, Lake Norman Charter School and the David B. Waymer Center.

NBN coaches and assistant coaches are both male and
female and are typically parent volunteers.
In the interest of our league and for the safety of
our children, a background check is required and will be
performed on all NBN coaches prior to the start of each
season. Additionally, each coach will sign a coaches
code of conduct contract prior to each season. If a
coach breaks the code of conduct contract, that coach
can be dismissed from the NBN league.
If you are interested in either being a Head coach or
Assistant coach, please contact Bobby Williams, Stephen
Dean or Geof Shorter (See Co-Organizer Contacts)

Even if you are not comfortable being a coach, there
are plenty of other opportunities for you to
volunteer your time in this league.
Each week, the home team will be responsible for
providing a scorebook keeper and clock keeper.
The visiting team will
also be responsible for providing a scorebook keeper
each week.
Additionally, each team
will need a team mom to help coordinate calls to the
team, coordinating practices, post game snacks,
organizing an end of the season get together etc.

A major NBN league
emphasis is playing time for all players.
All players must play
in at least two full quarters of each game and must
appear in both halves of that game.
No player may play
more than three quarters of a game.
The only exception to
this rule would be if a team was short on players
for whatever reason.
Accounting for
playing time is done by each coach and done on an honor
basis. This is something that will be monitored very
closely by NBN league representatives.

At the conclusion of each regular
season, NBN will conduct a single elimination
tournament for each age group.
All teams will be eligible to
participate in the post season tournament and the
tournament seeding will be determined by their
regular season game records.

Each season, NBN will be providing each player with a game
T-Shirt that they will keep following the conclusion of the season.
NBN will also be providing all players 12 years of age and
younger with a participation trophy at the end of the regular season.
Additionally, NBN will be providing medals or plaques for the
1st and 2nd place finishers in the post-season tournament.

All games will be played
against other NBN teams in the same age group in our
league.

NBN will follow the
rules of the North Carolina High School Basketball
Association.
